1. We Collect Zero Personal Information

News/Division does not require an account, email address, name, phone number, or login credentials. We do not collect, buy, sell, rent, or trade any personal data. You can explore, search, and compare news coverage with complete anonymity.

2. 100% Client-Side Search & Filtering

When you search for a controversial topic, keyword, or figure, your query is processed entirely inside your local browser memory using client-side JavaScript. Your search terms are never transmitted to, logged on, or analyzed by our servers or any third-party search provider.

3. Zero Tracking Cookies & Analytics SDKs

We do not include Google Analytics, Facebook Pixels, Mixpanel, Hotjar, or any behavioral fingerprinting scripts. There are no advertising identifiers or tracking pixels embedded in News/Division.

4. Local Storage Sovereignty & Ghost Mode

Your reading history and preferences (such as theme choice, layout density, and custom fonts) are saved exclusively inside your browser's isolated localStorage sandbox on your physical device.

• Ghost Mode: When enabled in Settings, all reading history and session state remain in volatile RAM only and are discarded immediately when you close the tab.
• Data Ownership: You can purge your read articles or completely wipe all local application storage at any time with the "Purge All Data" tool in Settings.

5. Outbound Link Sanitization & Referrer Blinding

When you click a link to read the full story on an original publisher's website:

• Telemetry Stripping: We automatically strip over 25 known commercial tracking parameters (including utm_source, utm_campaign, fbclid, gclid, mc_eid, and affiliate tags).
• Referrer Blinding: Outbound links specify rel="noopener noreferrer" with a strict no-referrer policy, preventing external servers from knowing you arrived from News/Division.

6. In-App Distill Reader & Media Embeds

Our in-app Distill Reader mode parses clean article text while stripping publisher tracking scripts, intrusive ad slots, and surveillance telemetry before rendering. Embedded video content uses YouTube's privacy-enhanced domain (youtube-nocookie.com).

7. Third-Party Publisher Websites

News/Division aggregates publicly available RSS feeds and broadcasts from 100 independent news organizations. When you choose to leave News/Division and visit an original publisher's website directly, your interaction with that website is governed by their respective privacy policy and terms of service.

8. Open Code & Verification

Our privacy architecture is open and verifiable. You can inspect your browser's Developer Tools network activity and storage inspector at any time to verify that zero external tracking calls or query payloads are transmitted.
